Jim (the President) inspected my furnace and told me there was nothing wrong with it – the spill switch had just been tripped. He was right. Fair & Honest – Came Through When Another Company Failed!

We have a rental (heat pump system) in Rancho Bernardo that had only lukewarm air coming out the vents. Air Plus did a thorough set of diagnostics on the system and was able to identify the problem as a bad condenser fan motor. They fixed it the same day and our tenants were up and running. I am so glad I didn’t agree to a full system replacement recommended by the first company that I had come out!

Date of service was on December 16, 2009. We contacted Air Plus to provide us with an estimate, and Kim returned our call as well as showed up at our house at the designated time. Although her strengths are not design and installation, Jim followed through with helpful advice, as our installation was very different and complicated than most. Both provided information on the products, pro’s and con’s of the product they sell as well as others and were able to explain everything in detail. Kim was very knowledgeable on rebates and tax advice and helped us with the Rebate Form. Once the system was installed, they called us back and left a message to find out if we had any issues or questions with the product. Overall we are completely satisfied with both the service and product we received. The price is right as well. We would recommend Air Plus to anyone who needs installation or any type of assistance with their heating or cooling system.

We’re Much Cooler Now!

We highly recommend Air Plus. As other reviewers have mentioned, they show up on time (a novel concept), do what they said they will do, and don’t leave until you’re satisfied. Two of the bedrooms in our house have never been cool; they get no airflow and because they face the afternoon sun, got way too warm by the end of the day. Jim came and diagnosed the problem (even taking duct-work apart before we’d even agreed to have him do the job). He made recommendations to improve the airflow in the house that none of the other contractors we talked to even considered. The bedrooms are substantially cooler now. We’re very pleased, and the Clean Effects rocks!

When I started looking to replace my old heater and air conditioner with a heat pump, I found that Trane really had the best offerings in heat pumps. I found Air Plus was a Trane Comfort Specialist and NATE certified and I was impressed with your references. When I met with you I was particularly impressed with the knowledge and experience demonstarted by Air Plus. Another contractor had told me that I had to replace my refrigerant line to switch to the latest class of equipment but your experience told you otherwise and as a result I had to deal with much less tear up to upgrade to the lastest equipment. Jim also instantly pointed out several easy ways to improve the poor airflow in my house and yet was cost conscious when suggesting changes to my duct work, to help keep my overall cost down.

Before and during the install, Kim was always there to answer my questions and keep me up to date with the details. Our installer, Daniel, was prompt and courteous as well as extremely experienced and especially diligent to get the job done on time. Yet he was always willing to answer my questions and made sure to ask me if there was a question about positioning or routing that I might have a preference on.

We are super happy with the Trane equipment. The new variable speed fan is very quiet, but the extra mile that Air Plus normally goes to provide a superior installation also really helped quiet our particularly noisy air return. I am also excited to give the Clean Effects time to really clean out air in our house but I can already tell the difference. We are very happy with the way our install turned out and the personal and professional touch Air Plus had at every step of the way.

A Warm Christmas…….

Kim Warner and Jim Crawford at Air Plus are terrific! Kim thoroughly explained our options. We didn’t feel any pressure to purchase. Kim was well informed and took time to learn about our heating and AC needs and to answer our questions. Jim and his crew instaled our Trane furnace and AC on Christmas eve, 12/24/2008. They worked diligently all day. What a pleasure and relief it was to have a quiet furnace pumping out heat on Christmas morning. We would absolutely recommend Air Plus Mechanical. Okay, so I’ve never posted anything on any review site but after having my central heat/air system intalled by Air Plus, I felt compelled to say something. We (me, wife, bubs & one in the oven) just purchased a home in RP and long story short, it needed a new system. I did the usual call and bid routine with several companies (white glove guys, multi-tasking plumbing & air conditioning guys) all had good ‘sales’ people with dog & pony shows and up-sale gimmics, but here’s the deal: Air Plus does air & heat, thats it, no sales, no BS.

Jim came out, assessed the situation, told me what I needed, gave me the price, and provided the service in a timely and professional manor. No up-sales, just what I needed. They installed it, cleaned up, set the thermostat up and its been great ever since.

IMPORTANT NOTE HERE: 2 weeks after system was installed, I had called them with an issue caused by a plumber who had worked on our main gas line yesterday which interupted the furnace as it operates on gas. Anyway, I called Jim’s cell directly at well after 8PM and he returned my call within minutes to find out what the deal was; how many companies have you dealt with in the past that provide that kind of prompt service after the fact?…that’s right, not that many. If I had to do it again, I’d skip the bidding game, spend that wasted quality time with the family and just let Air Plus do what they do. Highly recommend them to anyone.

If you are considering installing a new furnace or air conditioner in your house or business, we can highly recommend Air Plus Mechanical. Kim and Jim run a professional operation and we were impressed with how they handled a complex installation of a new furnace and air conditioning unit.

Our townhouse has some unusual angles, tight spots and not plumbed for A/C.  Jim spent a good deal of time carefully analyzing how best to install the equipment without having a negative impact on the structure. We also had to work at length with our homeowner’s association and were able to come up with a plan that they were amenable to.

It took a fair amount of time and back and forth communication to accomplish this, and Air Plus never pressured us to make a quick or rash decision and were helpful at every turn in the road. They were interested in getting the job done right the first time! The workers who came to install the equipment were professional and respectful of our property. The installation took an entire day and Jim came by the next day to do a final inspection.

All in all, we were extremely pleased and impressed with Kim, Jim, and their employees, and feel that we made a good decision to entrust them with this major home improvement project.

We LOVE our new Trane system with the Clean Effects. For the first time since buying our home in 1993 we have air 100% in the master bedroom, family room, and dining room. Replacing all the duct work was worth every dime. Jim, Dan and Mike did an awesome job installing the system and ductwork. I watched the whole process. Jim was so through he took 1 hour to crawl through our nonexistent attic to diagnose what needed to be done, before we even signed the contract.

I know we will enjoy this system for the next 30 years!!! Trane is the industry leader, and once you really start researching the different products and go look at them you will see why. The CleanEffects is amazing. The air feels great. The temperature is even all over the house. No more hot spots cold spots. The fan runs all the time and you do not hear it even in the garage where it is located. We could not be more pleased with the whole process. We highly recommend Air Plus.

This One Says It All…….

Sorry it took a few weeks to get back to you and the staff at Air Plus. This has been a busy few weeks with the fire recovery in Poway and the usual year-end deadlines. That being said, the temperature control and cleanliness in our home has never been better. The Trane heating, cooling and filtration system has been operating flawlessly and with a surprising intelligence that seamlessly transitions the household temperature between the various pre-determined set points. As we discussed, I am a professional engineer with over 27 years in program, project, construction management and environmental service lines. My experience with the Air Plus team places your firm in the top 2% of firms I have had the pleasure to engage in business and service.

The sales, engineering, and installation staff at Air Plus did an absolutely outstanding job sizing and installing our replacement 2 stage heating, cooling and ventilation system. In a home with 4 cats, 1 dog, and the recent smoke and ash impacts of the 2007 fire storm in Poway, the Clean Effects air filtration system and seven day programmable thermostat, with the auto temperature control and recirculation feature, is keeping the air in our home fresh, clean and comfortable. The setting sun no longer highlights “particles” in the room. We also had our original “builder’s grade” vents replaced. This recommended small adjustment and very low cost improvement to the overall system absolutely increased air flow and the overall efficiency of the system.

Regarding noise, the neighbors who face the XL16i 5-ton condenser are especially pleased with substantially quieter operation as compared to the 16 year old original unit you replaced. The condenser and fan have a low frequency noise that is not heard inside the house, much less across the street. The closet installed XV80i furnace and heat exchanger is pleasantly muffled as compared to the unit it replaced. Light sleepers no longer wake up to the start of the furnace.

Daily temperatures in Poway during October vary from as low as 49 and as high at 90 degrees. We have the thermostat set for a 73 (heat) and 78 (cool) range during this seasonal period. The control of the heating and cooling systems in this range is both flawless and energy efficient. I am an early riser, and have noticed the “smart” feature in the thermostat that gradually raises or lowers the temperature leading up to the programmed set point, which ensures a smooth transition between waking, working, and sleeping.

We also did our due-diligence in regards to system pricing and project references, calling and visiting commercial, service and residential clients for three different system and equipment providers. We found the TRANE equipment and control systems and, more importantly, the AIR PLUS installation and service team to be the highest rated, customer service oriented mechanical firm in North County.

The equipment installation staff was on time, courteous and demonstrated a pride in workmanship and brand loyalty. They completed their work on time and cleaned up thoroughly as the work progressed. Tim walked us through all the features of the Trane system and did not leave until he was satisfied we had the system “down pat” Kim kept us informed regarding installation start dates and gave us follow up calls to ensure we were satisfied with the work and the equipment operation.

We would not hesitate to recommend Air plus Heating and Cooling. They deliver on promises and represent Trane with exceptional customer service.”

After procrastinating over replacing our very old, inadequate furnace for fear of the mess our house would have to be in, we finally came to conclusion that we could not suffer through another winter where we had too much heat upstairs and none downstairs.  That was when I called you!

I am knowledgeable about Trane furnaces as I am originally from Tyler, Texas where your furnaces are built and have had relatives who in the past worked for Trane.  They had told me they thought Trane was the best furnace being built at this time.  That was the reason I called you!

Your representative Jack D. came to our home to access our situation.  He was very knowledgeable about your various furnaces and we decided on a model which we felt would most meet our needs to correct the problem we had.

I was wrong about the mess!  Your two installers were able to install our furnace in two days time which included all new ductwork installed under our house.  The installers were very careful to control all dust as they cut through the floors for the vents.  Before they left, they totally cleaned up any debris in the house and even under the house.  I very much appreciated this.

What a difference this furnace has made in our house.  Although we have not yet had very cold weather, we live seven blocks from the ocean and it is always damp and cool.  We have used the furnace on cooler days and in the evening and keep the Trane CleanEffects Whole House Air Filtration System running at all times.  Because my husband has breathing problems and we have grandchildren with allergies, I was so glad to find that Trane offered this system.  We can all tell a difference in the air quality.
